Pistachios…A Superfood!

Thursday, February 26th is National Pistachio Day!

Why would a nut deserve its own day? Because this nut is packed with nutrients and is a tasty addition to any recipe!

What makes pistachios so healthy?

  • They have been shown to reduce LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and increase the good HDL cholesterol.

  • They are high in antioxidants such as vitamins A and E, which fight inflammation and protect blood vessels.

  • Even a moderate intake of pistachios has been shown to increase levels of lutein, an antioxidant well known for protecting against oxidized LDL, reducing heart disease.

  • They have valuable nutrients that help protect the nervous system, immune system, skin health, and eye health.
