During Kids Eat Right Month, we will focus on the importance of healthy eating and active lifestyles for children and families.

Here are 3 easy ways you can get your family focused on Eating Right:
  1. Eat breakfast – Eating breakfast is important for everyone, but is especially so for children and adolescents. According to the American Dietetic Association, children who eat breakfast perform better in the classroom and on the playground, with better concentration, problem-solving skills, and eye-hand coordination.
  2. Sit down for a family meal together each day – Whatever the reason, if you are missing out on regular family dinners, you are missing out on the best part of the day. Start a new family dinner tradition by establishing “taco Tuesday”or “make your own grilled cheese Wednesday.” If you make sitting down a priority and add a fun twist, you will be rewarded with memories that will last a lifetime.

  3. Beverage choice in children has a great impact on the overall quality of their diet – Serve milk with meals and encourage water as a beverage (you can add fruit to the water to make it fun and exciting).
