Adventure: Lake Mead & Hoover Dam

On Saturday, November 23rd, Children’s Heart Center partnered with Outside Las Vegas Foundation to send families on a day-long adventure at Lake Mead National Recreation Area and Hoover Dam! Families took a bus from Children’s Heart Center to the Hoover Dam and walked across the new Pat Tillman bridge. “It was soo high up!” raved one of our patients.

Next, families were taken to the visitor’s center to become Jr. Rangers and to learn about endangered animal species. Families also participated in special trust-building activities and team contests.

After a picnic lunch, families enjoyed a beautiful, though wet, hike on the Railroad Tunnel Trail at Lake Mead National Recreation area. We are very excited to host another hike with our friends at Outside Las Vegas Foundation on December 15th. This upcoming trip will bring families to the brand new Craig Ranch Park in Las Vegas.

This partnership aims to teach our patients and their families about the beautiful natural lands in and around the Las Vegas valley. We also aim to foster an attitude of appreciation and stewardship of nature in the families we work with.

Thank you Outside Las Vegas Foundation!
