5 Fun Tips to Encourage Kids to Eat Healthy

Make healthy eating fun!

  1. Prepare plenty of fruits and vegetables, then make a game of it ~ ask kids to name all of the green/red/yellow/etc fruits and vegetables they can think of! Or try these fun games focused on getting your kids to eat fruits and veggies!
  2. Include low-fat or non-fat milk or dairy products. Serve milk in a favorite cup, use a fun straw or try a sports bottle with a pull-up spout.
  3. Choose lean meats, poultry, fish, lentils and beans for protein. Cook a “Kids Meal” at home with these fun recipes! Use fun shaped cookie cutters and fun dishes!
  4. Make favorite dishes healthier. Some of your favorite recipes can be healthier with a few changes. You can also try some new healthy dishes that might just become favorites too!
  5. Remove calorie-rich temptations. Treats are OK in moderation, but limiting high-fat and high-sugar or salty snacks can also help your children develop healthy eating habits. Try these fun recipes for healthy snacks your child will ask you for!
