13 Ways to Use Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt is a nutritional superstar!!!!

Greek yogurt has less sugar and nearly twice as much protein as regular yogurt, plus the added bonus of a creamier texture. Due to its texture and flavor, it’s a great stand-in for mayonnaise or sour cream. Where regular yogurt is the base of a recipe, a satisfying lighter version can be made using nonfat Greek yogurt instead. Using Greek yogurt is an easy way to cut hundreds of calories, eliminate fat, and boost protein.

Here are some ways to incorporate greek yogurt into your meals:
  1. EAT IT PLAIN: Add fruit, nuts and/or a drizzle of honey.
  2. MAKE POPSICLES: Forget artificial flavors, colors, and sweeteners. Make fruit pops by mixing a cup of yogurt with a cup of fresh or frozen mixed berries, a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and 3 to 5 tablespoons of honey. Pour into freezer pop molds.
  3. MARINADE FOR CHICKEN AND FISH: Marinate meat and seafood with seasoning and Greek yogurt instead of oil. You’ll cut fat, add tons of flavor, and keep your dish moist and tender.
  4. DRESS WAFFLES AND PANCAKES: Put a refreshing twist on waffles and pancakes by topping them with a few dollops of flavored yogurt instead of syrup.
  5. LIGHTEN SIDE DISHES: Whip up moist mashed potatoes by swapping in nonfat yogurt for a portion of the butter in your favorite recipes.
  6. TOP TACOS AND CHILI: Use it to dress your tacos and chili for the same tangy taste as sour cream.
  7. ADD PROTEIN TO SMOOTHIES: Triple the amount of protein in one smoothie by using Greek yogurt instead of milk.
  8. SLIM YOUR FAVORITE DRESSING: Use nonfat plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream or mayo next time you whip up a tub of ranch dressing.
  9. MIX A SOUP: Add creamy texture to soup by topping it with yogurt or swirling in a few tablespoons after you remove it from the stove.
  10. SLIM SUMMER SALADS: Substitute Greek yogurt for a portion of the mayo in potato, tuna or macaroni salad recipes. Just mix it in with your favorite seasonings and spices.
  11. MAKE GUACAMOLE NUTRIENT-RICH: Cut calories in your guacamole and turn it into super-guacamole by mixing in a few spoons of Greek yogurt. It helps add a smooth, creamy texture and boost the protein and calcium content.
  12. MIX A CHEESECAKE: Typical recipes can use a pound or more of cream cheese, but you can replace all or part of it with yogurt. Try half cream cheese and half vanilla Greek yogurt.
  13. SLIM COOKIES AND CAKES: For every cup of butter you use in recipes for baked goods, use half and substitute the rest with a quarter cup of Greek yogurt.
